The Historical Roots of iCapBiz and the Path-lign™ Process

iCapBiz Inc. was formally incorporated in early 2000. However, the seeds of the concept have been in development for over eight years. After co-founding and launching Legal Anywhere, a company which provided an ASP internet software solution to lawyers, Graham Weeks observed that proactive collaboration between lawyers and customers was not happening. He concluded that lawyers and customers were not realizing the potential return on investment into the collaborative software. Frequently the extranet/intranet was merely being used as a repository, while innovation, processes and ideas were not emerging.

The behavior of the users indicated that they were too busy tasking to take the time to create a networked community. The bias for action in these dynamic environments didn't allow the reflection and learning necessary to improve processes. The conclusion was that technology was, in many cases, merely an enabler and not a complete answer. The big puzzle was how to facilitate people working together in the new economy.

It has been, and continues to be, an incredible learning experience and iCapBiz is now getting set to launch a brand new version of the process mapping software.
